Volakas Marble

Volakas is a Greek dolomitic marble whose identity rests almost entirely on its diagonal veining — a directional pattern characteristic uncommon enough among white marbles that it became the stone’s defining commercial attribute and the primary reason it competes directly with Italian Carrara and Statuario in the international white marble market. Its semi-translucent white structure requires careful adhesive selection during installation, as dark-toned setting materials can shadow through the face — a technical consideration that separates informed specification from uninformed purchasing. Its higher porosity relative to other marbles demands periodic sealing, particularly in wet areas, but in properly maintained interior applications its fine grain, strong polishability, and bold vein character make it one of the most visually arresting white stone options available at a non-Italian price point.
