Jasper Red Quartzite

Jasper Red Quartzite from Bahia, Brazil draws its colour from iron oxide mineralisation locked within a dense metamorphic quartz matrix — the same iron chemistry that makes the red permanent and entirely resistant to UV fading or surface treatment alteration. Unlike red granites that achieve their colour through coarse feldspar crystals, this stone’s microcrystalline quartz structure produces a tighter, more even surface that carries the red with greater saturation and depth, particularly under polished finish. Its quartzite classification also means it ranks approximately 7 on the Mohs scale, placing it above most marbles and granites in terms of scratch resistance — a structural advantage that matches its considerable visual impact.
